Know what is built and why – see what is missing

Spec-driven software development that keeps AI under control

Software engineering is changing fast. The real shift is not only in how software gets built, but in how engineering work can be structured to make readiness visible across the chain.

Spexant is a specification-driven AI framework for teams building regulated, safety-critical, and long-lived software. AI agents work across requirements, design, implementation, and verification, while traceability and human oversight remain intact by design.

Why we are building Spexant

At Atostek we have spent 25 years building software that has improved our customers’ businesses. We have done that in environments where things cannot afford to quietly break, including medical devices, industrial systems, and other domains where software is reviewed, audited, and expected to last. In those environments, it is not enough to know what exists. You also need to know why a requirement, design choice, implementation, or test is there in the first place.

In those same environments, AI coding tools have been useful for individual tasks, but not transformative. The hardest parts of the work still sit with people: understanding the requirement, designing the right solution, keeping the chain traceable, and proving that it works. That is where most of the time goes, and that is where AI has had the least impact.

Spexant is our way of moving AI from isolated tasks into the full software engineering workflow. By treating the engineering chain as one connected continuum rather than a sequence of disconnected documents and code, AI agents can take on real work across the full lifecycle, not just inside the editor. It also makes gaps visible across the chain, so teams can see what has been specified, implemented, verified, and what is still missing. The structure, the review points, and the audit trail stay where they belong.

This is the kind of workflow we have wanted for years, both for ourselves and for the teams we work with.

What Spexant is built to do

Agentic AI across the full engineering chain

Spexant applies AI across the engineering chain, not just in code completion. Agents work across stakeholder needs, requirements, design, implementation, testing, and verification. They collaborate with engineers at each step under explicit human review.

Specification-driven by design

Requirements, architecture, detailed design, and code live as one connected engineering continuum, not separate documents that drift apart. Code is treated as a refinement of specification, not an isolated output.

Traceability that is there from the start

Every design decision, every line of code, and every test traces back to the requirement and stakeholder need that justified it. Audit preparation stops being a project of its own.

Make the gaps visible

Spexant helps teams see what has been specified, what has been implemented, what has been verified, and what is still missing. That gives a clearer and more truthful view of readiness across the engineering chain.

Built for environments that don't tolerate shortcuts

Spexant is shaped for the realities of regulated and safety-critical work: software that is reviewed, audited, maintained for years, and held accountable to the decisions behind it.

Built for practical control

In demanding environments, control over tooling, data, and deployment is not a feature to add later. Spexant is designed with that in mind from the start.

Choose the model and deployment approach
that fit your environment

Different engineering tasks may call for different language models. Spexant supports practical control over model choice, hosting, and deployment, including self-hosted options, so both governance needs and AI costs can be managed as part of the workflow.

Keep engineering data under your control

Requirements, design artifacts, implementation details, and verification work should not have to leak into uncontrolled AI workflows. Spexant is built for environments where confidentiality, controlled data handling, and security-conscious development matter.
