First version of Atostek ID card reader software released

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) has released the first production version of the Atostek ID card reader software. The Atostek ID card reader software enables social and healthcare professionals, other officials, and citizens to, for example, authenticate strongly.

DVV has released the first production version of the Atostek ID card reader software, developed by Atostek, on December 2, 2024. DVV recommends its customers to switch to using Atostek ID as soon as possible, but at the latest by the year 2025.

Currently, the software supports, among other things, the SCS interface for card communication according to DVV’s specifications and the PKCS module for integrations. More features are expected to be added in the coming year.

With the Atostek ID card reader software, social and healthcare professionals, officials from other sectors, and citizens can strongly authenticate and sign documents. In addition to electronic authentication and signing, Atostek ID can be used, for example, to activate a certificate card and change the card’s PIN codes.

“For ordinary citizens, Atostek ID enables authentication with a chip-enabled ID card, for instance, to the Omakanta service instead of using bank credentials. Although authenticating with bank credentials is simple, authenticating with an ID card is even easier and faster for the citizen,” says Atostek’s Business Director Miika Parvio.
