Atostek ID card reader software’s second production version released

The second production version of the Atostek ID card reader software brings many new features to users.

The second production version of the Atostek ID card reader software was released in February. This version introduces a range of new features that enhance the software’s versatility and usability.

The new production version provides comprehensive support for use cases that were not covered in the previous release for both macOS and Linux operating systems, including smooth authentication with suomi.fi on various browsers. The update includes support for all FINEID card types, including new healthcare and organizational cards (Cosmo X cards).

Users can now also take advantage of an expanded range of document signature options, which covers not only the previously supported PAdES signature but also signature types CAdES, XAdES, JAdES, and ASiC-E. Additionally, the software has added functionality for reading and writing to card Mifare tags.

New releases of the Atostek ID card reader software are scheduled throughout this year, which will include fixes and new features.

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency recommends its customers to switch to using Atostek ID as soon as possible, but at the latest by the year 2025. The first production version of Atostek ID was released in December 2024.

Atostek ID card reader software enables healthcare professionals, officials from other sectors, and citizens to authenticate themselves strongly and sign documents. In addition to electronic authentication and signature, Atostek ID can also be used to activate a certificate card and change the card’s PIN codes.
