Ostu-bot enhances recognition of vocational skills – Atostek Develops AI solution for vocational education providers in Finland

Ostu-bot is an AI-based solution that identifies a student’s prior competences and supports the planning of personalized study paths. The new tool streamlines the skills recognition process and brings clear benefits for students as well as teachers and study counselors.

In spring, Atostek won a public tender for a software development project aimed at creating an AI-assisted solution. The application is designed to assess the prior knowledge of new vocational students against the requirements of their qualification. The result is a visual report that supports both competence recognition and study path planning. The project has started swiftly and is progressing in cooperation with the stakeholders of the Digikyvykkyys 2 project.

At its best, Ostu-bot makes the skills recognition process faster, clearer, and more consistent. It helps identify competences acquired through previous studies or work experience, thereby strengthening the student’s role in the recognition process. The solution benefits both students and teaching staff by improving efficiency and quality.

The development work is carried out in collaboration with the Digikyvykkyys 2 network, which includes a total of 99 vocational education providers. The network’s work is coordinated by Gradia (Jyväskylä Educational Consortium), SASKY Municipal Education and Training Consortium, and Stadin AO, with Espoo Region Joint Authority for Education (Omnia) acting as the main coordinator of the project.
